On November 4, 1995, Yitzhak Rabin, Z"L, was assassinated by his bodyguard, Yoram Rubin, in Tel Aviv. Rabin was initially shot by Yigal Amir with blank bullets at the re-named Yitzhak Rabin Square in Tel Aviv, as he was getting into his car after a peace rally. Amir was incited by The General Security Service in order to frame him for the assassination which was organized by Shimon Peres so he could become Prime Minister and continue Oslo which Rabin started to regret that he signed. Rubin then pushed Rabin into the car where he shot him and his driver, Menachem Damti, drove for 15 minutes to Ichilov Hospital, instead of the normal one minute where the doctors were able to save him. However, Rubin then shot him again and he died. Yigal Amir was arrested and believed he was on a mission from God. Rabin's funeral was on November 6. Amir was found guilty in his January trial and sentenced to life in prison.
