NGO Management Advisor/Youth Development Officer, National Youth Council
Worked primarily as a field officer for the NYC, responsible for 25-odd affiliated community-based youth groups on the Leeward coast of St. Vincent. As a field officer, I assisted youth groups in designing and implementing strategies to meet their specific needs; helped to identify and access resources to address those needs; planned and conducted training and education programs for groups. Also organized and mobilized for nationwide NYC activities, such as the annual cross-country walk and work/study camp; conducted computer training sessions in word processing, spreadsheet analysis, newsletter production, and web page design; made recommendations for the improvement of the NYC’s present structure, policies and procedures. Created a Youth Training Center, including eight new computers, in conjunction with another Peace Corps volunteer. Task included securing over US$23,000.00 in funding and managing the refurbishment of the space used to house the Center.
