(Restrictions apply to variations.)
Descriptive terms can be used without restriction so long as they describe natural instances in the real world, or concepts. No objective is raised regarding the use of the phrase "intelligent systems" to describe intelligent systems nor "intelligent systems research" to describe research related to intelligent systems. No objection is raised regarding the use of phrases in titles in relation to research units in academic organizations, such as an Intelligent Systems Research project in a computer science department at a university, especially since this relates to real-world description and concept. Restrictions do apply when referring to a named business entity, use of terms as a business entity name, and commercial products, products offered as freeware, under Open Source license, and other product offerings, and to the advertising of product offerings. Any "description" used in relation to a product offering must be verifiably accurate and not designed to mislead or deceive.
