Other People's Thoughts
This is from a guy named Joe, he goes to school in New York, this is some of his thoughts about school.
I go to school just like almost every other kid in the USA, and I
just have some things to say about my school and all schools in general.
I attend Mt. Sinai High School and it is supposed to be the best
school on Long Island. The only problem with schools being rated #1, #2,
etc., is that adults who didn't attend the school rate them. How the hell
would they know what the hell goes on here? We have a gang of guys that call
themselves "The Butt-Pirates". I have no problem with gangs and stuff, but
they do some of the stupidest things. They go around at the end of the school
year and beat the crap out of the incoming freshmen inorder to initiate them.
I think if they had anything better to do with their time they would do it,
BUT THEY DON'T! They also broke into somebody's house and stole the kid's
mom's wedding ring. Come on I think most people are better than that. Also my schools rules suck. If you come into school late, no matter what, you get a
detention. I think that rule sucks, because there are a lot of people coming
in late, and they all get detention, I'd rather just not come to school. Also beepers, walkmans, and anything else somewhat civilized are taken from you and are not able to be retrieved. The only way you can get them back is by
having your parents come and get them at the school for you. Obviously no smoking is allowed, but I mean if someone needs a butt, shouldn't they be allowed to go outside and light up? Certain dress codes are applied that suck too. Girls get sent home to change if their shorts or shirts are to short. I
mean some of us guys want to feast our eyes on things other than the chalkboard. Come on think of the future of America here! When are generation,
Generation"X", gets into political, or any other type of power I hope that we
aren't this uptight about rules in school or any place for a matter of fact.
But we have to start with the school system because that is where everything
starts. I am not going to say Mt. Sinai High School is all bad, but there are
definetely changes to be made. Some teachers are fairly cool, but then there
are the teachers who you want to kill. I have a few that just bore the hell
out of me. We should make the principal take a semester of the boring courses
and see if he wants the teacher around or not. I have one teacher who is so
boring I want to kill myself. I hate the monotone voice crap. Why can't
people spice up their tone of voice somewhat, at least give an attempt not to
be boring. Changes have to be made. This Sucks. The school system needs some
major improvements. We need to maybe learn stuff we will actually use in real
life. L8r.
After I posted this message I recieved a message from one of Joe's friends, from the same school, with a few more rules. He says they only have 3 minutes to get to their next class, and that the school is designed very poorly. Another thing he said was, there are hallmonitors there all day, and that they check the guys bathrooms. That wouldn't be so bad, but all the hall monitors are old ladies. E-mail me at "Clister@Geocities.com" with some of your school rules and policies.
How can you take a gang seriously if they call themselve's "The Butt Pirates"? They sound like 3rd graders.

I agree with most everything you say, and want to imput my own story.
Around the end of November, two of my friends and I decided to help out our
school by imputting some school spirit. We decided that basketball season
would be a perfect time to get this ball rolling. But since our boys team
is horrible, we decided to direct our energies toward our very good girls'
basketball team. So, we started showing up at games wearing Bratwurt's
(Bucyrus, were I am from is the Bratwurst capital of America) on our
hats...an idea similar to Wisconson's Cheeseheads. But I suppose we are
threatening to our administators, because we continue to be hassled for the
things we do and the chants and cheers we do. Sure, we were thrown out of
2 games for comments made to an official, but the first time it wasn't our
fault. One of the people in our growing student section told the ref that
he sucked and that idiot threw the entire front row out of a Junior Varsity
game. Anyway, after the second ejection my friends were suspended from one
home game, and they "decided" that if they closed the student section down
it would keep us out of "trouble". Chalk one up for killing school spirit.
This touble we are being kept out of is non-excistant. But the worst part
is we have to visit the principal about on a weekly basis...taking us out
of our important class time. It's not like we are bad people, we all rank
in the top 10% of our class. Here is a suggestion to administators
everywhere..."Take some time deal with the real problems, leave those
trying to do good things alone."
