Physician Heal Thyself!
]
One of the ironies of the Liberals election defeat in Victoria is that the federal division will now conduct a review of the performance of the Victorian branch.  No doubt this review will be interested in the role of its State Director  Peter Poggoli.  Tasmanians may remember that mr Poggoli was commissioned by the State Liberals to review its own electoral defeat in 1998.  The ensuing report has been kept close to the bosom of the partys state executive  but is believed to have contained a number of recommendations to revitalise the party's fortunes in Tasmania.  Tasmanian Liberals must now be revisiting some of that advice in the wake of events in Victoria.

Jobs for the Boys?

Former Denison MHA and Legislative councillor John White is understood to have withdrawn his nomination for ALP preselection for the Legislative Council division of Wellington,  currently held by factional colleague Doug Parkinson.

Mr White (aka Bill Smith of Queenstown) is known to have been miffed about not being looked after by the Government after losing his seat in the Legislative Council redistribution of boundaries.

It is understood that 'Bill' has been offered a position on a Government board.

Napier Must Clear Decks

Rumour has it that a whole swag of Liberal MHA's will retire  soon or not seek pre-selection for the next state election.  Old timers like Tony Rundle,  Ray Groom and Frank Madill are all tipped to jump ship.  If this is the case,  then the interests of Tasmanian politics are not served by these pollies hanging around.  Tasmania needs a vibrant,  committed and focussed Opposition not time servers and it is up to their leader Sue Napier to do something about it.

Pay Up - Or Else!

Which nearly succesful Tasmania First candidate from the last state election is telling everyone within earshot that he will not stand again if the Party does not meet all his campaign costs?

One Nation - Many Variants

No news on the views of the Tasmanian chapter of One Nation and the imbroglio enveloping the party in Queensland.
