Republican - State Representative - House District 15

As an American citizen, a taxpayer, and a Republican, I believe…

that only the American Dream fulfills the promise of liberty and is attainable by all only through secure
jobs, home ownership, personal security, and an educational foundation that prepares our children for
the challenges of the century ahead.

Economy

that a growing vibrant economy is the best way to create more and better paying jobs.

All citizens have the right to enjoy the income from one's own labor. Government should be limited in the
proportion of income that it may take from individual citizens and businesses. Like every household, government
should be required to live within its means and not exceed the level of its income.

Bureaucracy

that wasteful government spending and over-regulation, fueled by higher taxes are the single greatest
obstacles to economic growth and prosperity.

Expecting the government bureaucracy to reform itself is much akin to handing over the keys of the Love Boat to
the captain of the Exxon Valdez. Their shortcuts sound good initially, but end up costing the taxpayers in the long
                    run." -- Dave Stiver

Moral values

that a good society rests on an ethical foundation and that families, communities, and religious
institutions are best equipped to teach our children the American values of honesty, responsibility, and
                    hard work.

Right to self-government. In communities where property ownership is widespread, local self-government is an
absolute must. Only by transferring power from the Federal government to the State government, and the State
government to the local government, will control by distant bureaucrats be held in check.

Government

that the people are the state's greatest strength and asset, not the government. I strongly believe that
(in many cases) our government has grown too large and intrusive, and is involved in issues that people
                    could address better for themselves.

"Government even in its best state is but a necessary evil, and in its worst state an intolerable one."
                                                                                                                                                            -- Thomas Paine
Family values

that the family is the backbone of our society. Above all, government must support the rights of the
                    family.

The right of the parents to define their children's education must outweigh the power of government to influence,
control, or circumvent local public policy.
