My brother Lee, took me to Japan in 1993.

We visited Tokyo, Kyoto and a small town called Odono, where we stayed with friends of his. I found the country fascinating but never lost the feeling of being a complete outsider. This was the one impediment I found, though it too was a very intense creative experience.
