Skills Profile

Leadership

As Chairman of Lancaster University Conservative Association and the local Young Conservative’s during the 1997 General Election, I was responsible for motivating the youth in the Party throughout the constituency. Also, I was also responsible for the organisation and implementation of the election campaign on campus.

Currently, I am Lancaster City Campaign Team Leader for the 1999 council elections and a prospective council candidate.

Analytical and Problem Solving

My degree course has enabled me to effectively analyse and solve a problem by the most efficient and effective means within a certain time frame.

Presently, I am a member of the Lancaster City Conservative Policy Development Group. Its task is to discuss and formulate policy for the Conservative Party’s local election campaign in 1999.

Organisation

For the Spring Semester of my time at the University of Illinois I was secretary of my fraternity, Pi Kappa Phi. I was responsible for the recording of minutes at chapter meetings, the upkeep of the chapter’s records, and implementing the chapter’s role point system. My position also involved serving on the chapter’s executive committee that dealt with the chapter’s house as a whole.

Communication

Through my involvement with the Conservative Party, I have strengthened my communications skills. In particular, my association with the local media has not only taught me how to express my own ideas and concerns, but also those of the Conservative Party, my fellow peers, and, most importantly, the community.

I have worked effectively as a member of various committees and sub-committees at Lancaster University. A few of these committees were University Court, Union Council, Academic Council and the Library Committee.
