The UMWA's Mission

• Identifies, sponsors and supports legislation to protect the rights and jobs of coal miners. This includes the right to form UNIONS.
• Promotes public policy for the benefit of all coalminers, including safety and enviromental standards.
• Identifies UMWA initiatives that can benefit ALL COALMINERS
• Enhances the growth and development of the Umwa among all public agencies as well as corporations.

Goals

• To organize every coalminer, in every mine.
• To organize the community around the colaminers in order to bring the support that is so often needed for the workers
