The 44th Virginia Infantry Reenactment group is affiliated with Longstreet’s Corp. We portray the common Confederate Infantry soldier along with the common Federal Infantry soldier.

We purchase authentically reproduced uniforms, accouterments, and equipment for our “impressions”.  We strive for a high standard of authenticity in all aspects of our reenacting of the Civil War time period.  We will assist you in what you need and where to get it.  We will also attempt to finish out your “kit” with loaner equipment, temporarily. We are a non-profit, non-political organization dedicated to making history come alive while striving for an awareness of the life and times of our ancestors that can only be captured by “being there."

We also believe that the life of the common soldier was not at all dull. Our weekend campaigns consist of dances, singing, telling stories of battles past, and most importantly bonding with other men and women who have the same interests as you.

The 44th Virginia participates in reenactments throughout the State of Virginia and surrounding states.  Each reenactment features specific battles, and usually a tactical for the troops to "play" without spectators.   At many reenactments, there are activities that are family based, such as dances, speakers, period music and life as a civilian in the civilian camping areas.

The mission for the 44th Virginia is to preserve our history and our heritage while teaching others about the soldier’s life, the battles, and the country they died for.
