The first On Line edition of the Anglo Quebecer espoused the potential for violence and vandalism the evening of the St. Jean Baptiste Day Parade.   It urged readers to contact City of Montreal officials in an effort to Stop the Evening Parade, and our site was even written up in a local weekly paper. The response from readers across Canada, many of whom sent us Emails, was quite encouraging.

Were our fears unfounded?  Undoubtedly, no.  The 600 Montreal police officers who were on duty that night made a remarkable effort to keep the crowd under control and they should be graciously applauded.  The Merchant Association of Old Montreal also took prudent measures by covering windows and meeting with police and each other prior to that night.

Let us be thankful that the evening was not
marred by needless violence and vandalism.
In The Gazette of Saturday, June 26th,
Don Macpherson wrote:

"This year, for the first time in years, there
were no ugly scenes at the major evening events in
either Montreal or Quebec City.  This is
almost miraculous, considering
what could have gone wrong."

That however is where this publication's consensus with
Mr. Macpherson ends.  Some things are better left unsaid. . . . .

IN OTHER NEWS: Congratulations to William Johnson
on his recent reelection to the Presidency of Alliance Quebec,
as well as to those elected to the Executive Committee
and the others who will serve on this year's Board of
Directors.   Congratulations to one and all and we know
you will all do a great job. . . . . .

Thank you to those who have contributed over the past
few weeks, and we will try to include as many as possible
in this month's edition.   Special thanks to Daniel Allen Kinsle
for his insightful article, and to Ken Conlin for his input.

The Anglo Quebecer Web Site is placed on line courtesy of some Anglo Quebecers, active within their community.  One of it's main purposes is to embarrass the Parti Quebecois government throughout the country and the world.

It's second goal is to keep our community informed of upcoming events, protests, etc.

Submissions and editorial comments are welcome.
