NARFE once again has proposed three legislative items as priority legislation. They are: Government Pension Offset (GPO), Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP), and Premium Conversion. The GPO and WEP House Bill is HR 147, Premium Conversion House Bill is HR 994. More than half of the house now co-sponsos these two bills. The Senate side bill for GPO/WEP is S 619 and for Premium Conversion it is S 484. Also OPM is going to allow Blue/Cross Blue Shield to offer Health Savings Accounts.(HSA) NARFE oppses any HSA within FEHBP's.

Please contact your representative and your Senators. Ask them for their support for these Priority NARFE Legislative items. Contact them (by phone, mail, email, fax).

March 20-24, 2006, is the date for this year's "National Lobby Day". On this day, we need each of you to do at least one of the following:

a. Schedule a meeting with your Representative and/or Senators at his/her district office, taking some of your chapter members with you. Ask them to support these equailty bills by becoming co-sponsors.

b. Those members not able to go meet with their Representative and/or Senators should call, write, fax, or email their Representative and both Senators and ask them to support these NARFE Legislative Priority bills.
