Female genital mutilation

In July 1994 the Queensland Law Reform Commission (PO Box 312, Roma Street, Q 4003) published its Draft Report No. 42 entitled "Female Genital Mutilation", and invited public comment. The Society made a submission dated July 1994.

Queensland Criminal Code

In December 1994 the Queensland Department of Justice and Attorney-General (State Law Building, 50 Ann Street, Brisbane Q 4000) issued for public consultation a draft of the Criminal Code Bill 1994. The Society made a submission to the Department dated January 1995. A copy is available on request from the Society secretariat (polsoc@mpx.com.au).

Model Forensic Procedures Bill

In December 1994 the Commonwealth Minister for Justice (Parliament House, Canberra ACT 2600) issued a model Forensic Procedures Bill and invited public comment. A copy of the Society's submission of February 1995 is available from the Society secretariat (polsoc@mpx.com.au).

Mandatory Life Sentences Bill

In October 1995 the Standing Committee on Law and Justice of the NSW Legislative Council (Parliament House, Macquarie Street, Sydney, NSW 2000) commenced an inquiry into the Crimes Amendment (Mandatory Life Sentences) Bill 1995. The Society made a submission dated 25 October 1995.

Model Criminal Code

In August 1996 the Model Criminal Code Officers Committee of the Standing Committee of Attorneys-General (Attorney-General's Department, National Circuit, Barton ACT 2600) issued for public consultation a Discussion Paper entitled Chapter 5. Non fatal offences against the person. The Society made a submission dated September 1996.

Criminal injuries compensation

In June 1997 the ACT Attorney-General (GPO Box 158, Canberra ACT 2601) issued a Discussion Paper entitled "Reform of the Australian Capital Territory Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme." The Society made a submission dated June 1997.

Deportation of foreign criminals

In February 1997 the Australian Parliament's Joint Standing Committee on Migration commenced an inquiry into criminal deportation. The Society made a submission dated February 1997.

Criminal liability for self-induced intoxication

In December 1998 the Law Reform Committee of Victoria (35 Spring St, Melbourne, Vic 3000) published an Issues Paper in connection with its inquiry into criminal liability for self-induced intoxication and invited public submissions. The Society made a submission dated January 1999.
