Petty patents
The Australian Industrial Property Organisation's Advisory Council on
Industrial Property (PO Box 200, Woden ACT 2606) released an issues paper
in October 1994 in connection with its review of the petty patent system.
The Society made a submission dated October 1994 responding to the issues
paper. A copy is available from the PPAS secretariat
(polsoc@mpx.com.au) on request.
AUSTEL line standard
AUSTEL (PO Box 7443, St Kilda Road, Vic 3004) has released (through
Standards Australia) a draft line standard entitled "End to end network
performance". In response, the Society made a submission dated February 1995.
Regulation of on-line information services
In July 1995, the Department of Communications and the Arts released
(through the Internet location
http://www.dca.gov.au) its document entitled "Consultation paper on the
regulation of on-line information services". In response, the Society
made a submission dated August 1995.
In April 1995, the Australian Senate established the Select Committee
on Community Standards Relevant to the Supply of Services Utilising
Electronic Technologies. The Society made a submission dated September
1995, similar to that mentioned above.
In December 1995 the Australian Broadcasting
Authority published an Issues Paper entitled
"Investigation into the content of on-line services". In response, the Society made a submission dated
February 1996.
