Department of Work and Pensions
HALL of SHAME

1997

1997 - 2003

2003 - 2004

2004 - 2005

2005 - 2005

Frank Field MP

The most genuine
DWP Secretary,
and Labour's
original choice.
He was replaced,
because he spoke
out about serious
underfunding, esp.
about OAP's and
the disabled.

Alistair Darling MP

"Safe Hands" is bussed
 in to shore-up Labours
 sinking Flagship Dept.
He does so by various
 devious methods that
are described here,
God alone knows how
he sleeps at night, with
the deaths of so many
OAPs on his concience.

Andrew Smith MP

Possibly the least
effective of Blair's
DWP Secretaries.
He made proposals
but then never
carried them out.
He fiddled and
dithered, whilst
OAPs froze and
starved to death.

Alan Johnson MP

Wasn't there for
long enough to
make any radical
changes to the
grossly unfair and
unweildy system
that Alistair Darling
had put in place with
 the SSA1998 and
 overcomplex forms.

David Blunkett MP

Unfortunately Blunkett
seemed to suffer from
"Mandelson Disease"
and had to resign
after only a few
months, because
of failing to obey
The Ministerial Code
and also became
embroiled in dubious
 share dealings

2005 - ?

John Hutton MP

Formerly a
Cabinet Office
Minister, and
one of Blair's
rapidly dwindling
band of allies.
We shall see if
he will be allowed
to have any ideas
of his own.
