Traineeships at the European Union Institutions

  1. A traineeship at an institution of the European Union (EU) in Brussels, Belgium:

    An administrative traineeship ('stage') at the European Commission, Brussels (and Luxemburg)
    • The Stage Story: What is the Stage, How to Apply, How to Do Lobbying, and What You Can Expect
    • 650 interns (called stagiaires) twice a year of which 35 are in Luxemburg
    • 5 months terms starting in October and March, the deadlines for application are end of February and end of September for the following term
    • Highly competitive : 8000 applicants
    • Graduates and students with at least 8 semesters accepted
    • Best social life of all internships : organized weekly parties, trips, debates, lectures, and national parties organized by stagiaires
    • Not well paid (28,000 BEF p.m. - US$900) or unpaid internships
    • 38 countries represented, but mainly from the EU
    • Renowned famous and powerful political and bureaucratic institution

    Council of the European Union (also known as Council of Ministers)
    20 interns twice a year
    European Parliament, Brussels (a part of the administration, committee sessions and extraordinary plenary sessions held there) - Luxemburg (major part of the administration) - Strassburg (one plenary session week each month)
    20 interns in Brussels, 50 in Luxemburg twice a year (5 month term)

    6 interns twice a year (5 month term)

    24 interns twice a year (5 month term)
  2. A traineeship at an institution of the European Union (EU) in the city of Luxemburg, Luxemburg:

    European Commission, Brussels - Luxemburg
    35 are in Luxemburg (called stagiaires);
    (5 month terms starting in October and March) - 8000 applicants on the whole
    European Parliament, Luxemburg (the major part of EP's administration) - Brussels (part of the administration, committee sessions and extraordinary plenary sessions) - Strassburg (plenary sessions each month)
    50 in Luxemburg twice a year, 20 in Brussels (5 month term)
