Western life is great too. I live in the highest elevation dorm in the country. I live in the 3rd floor of Crystal Hall. It is the outdoor discovery dorm. We take trips every weekend to different locations. More often than not there are unofficial trips. Someone will come around and ask if you want to go camping tonight. I always go. I love living up here too.
Western is in the perfect location. It is a hard place to get to, so it's fairly secluded. It is an outdoorsman's dream. Behind by dorm is mountain biking trails. About a 10 minute drive is rock climbing. Kayaking scene is huge. The Gunnison River through town is a nice play river. Up the road is some world class white water on the Taylor Canyon. Backpacking is world class out here, just look at the pictures. Mountain Climbing is huge too. We are surrounded by 14,000 peaks. One hell of a view off those things. Skiing is going to be great. Crested Butte is just down the road. It is one of the most extreme ski resorts in the country.

The people in my dorm thought I was
crazy for sleeping in my tent the
first few weeks. I sleep better in it than by bed.
