扶 輪 的 由 來
The Derive of Rotary
       世界上第一個扶輪社是由年輕的律師保羅•哈理斯以友誼與瞭解的精神結合一群各自不同行業服務大眾的男士，於1905年02月23日在美國伊利絡州芝加哥組成立的。社員資格的基礎----即〞社區中每一事業及專業只限一人參加〝，迄今仍然為扶輪所尊行。最初，新創立的扶輪社其社員集會係輪流在彼此的事業處所舉行，此計即扶輪名稱之由來。

自1905年起，保羅•哈理斯及其友人的看法已成為幾近所有國家、各種政策，宗教信仰的人士所接受的理想。今日，在161個國家及34個地理區域都有扶輪社，扶輪的原則廣為各方接受，如今全世界已有29367多個扶輪社，社員人數超過1,188,600人。

每一國家的扶輪社，其一般宗旨均為相同----〞即增進社區內事業的專業領袖之間的聯誼與瞭解，提高改善社區的努力及是高事業、專業的標準，促進國際瞭解、親善和平〝。全世界各地扶輪社均有一個共同的基本理想----即關懷他人幫助他人的「扶輪之理想」。

　

扶 輪 的 定 義
The Definition of Rotary
扶 輪 是 一 個 全 世 界 事 業 及 專 門 職 業 人 士 的 組 織, 它 提 供 慈 善 服 務, 鼓 勵 崇 高 的 職 業 道 德, 並 致 力 於 世 界 親 善 及 和 平.
ROTARY IS ....... an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

　

扶 輪 宗 旨
The Object of Rotary
　 扶 輪 之 宗 旨, 在 於 鼓 勵 與 培 養 以 服 務 理 想 為 可 貴 事 業 之 基 礎, 尤 其 著 重 於 鼓 勵 與 培 養: The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
1 藉 增 廣 相 識 為 擴 展 服 務 之 機 會; The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
2 在 各 種 事 業 及 專 門 職 務 中 提 高 道 德 之 標 準; 認 識 一 切 有 益 於 社 會 的 業 務 之 價 值, 每 一 扶 輪 社 員 應 提 尊 重 本 身 之 業 務, 藉 以 服 務 社 會; High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
3 每 一 社 員 能 以 服 務 理 想 應 用 於 其 個 人, 事 業 及 社 會 之 生 活; The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
4 透 過 結 合 具 有 服 務 理 想 之 各 種 事 業 及 專 門 職 務 人 士, 以 世 界 性 之 聯 誼, 增 進 國 際 間 之 瞭 解, 親 善 與 和 平. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

　

四 大 考 驗
The 4-Way Test
　 我 們 所 想, 所 說, 所 作 的 事, 應 先 捫 心 自 問: Of the things we think, say or do:
1. 是 否 一 切 屬 於 真 實 ? Is it the Truth?
2. 是 否 各 方 得 到 公 平 ? Is it Fair to all concerned?
3. 是 否 促 進 信 譽 友 誼 ? Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
4. 是 否 兼 顧 彼 此 利 益 ? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

　

扶 輪 社 員 之 事 業 及 專 門 職 務 宣 言
Declaration of Rotarians in Businesses and Professions
為 從 事 於 事 業 及 專 門 職 務 之 扶 輪 社 員, 本 人 將:
As a Rotarian engaged in a business or profession, I am expected to:
1
 視 個 人 職 業 為 另 一 種 服 務 的 機 會;
Consider my vocation to be another opportunity to serve;
2
 在 形 式 及 精 神 上 遵 守 個 人 職 業 上 的 道 德, 國 家 的 法 律, 社 會 上 的 道 德 標 準;
Be faithful to the letter and to the spirit of the ethical codes of my vocation, to the laws of my country, and to the moral standards of my community;
3
 盡 己 所 能 光 大 個 人 的 職 業, 且 在 個 人 的 崗 位 上 提 高 道 德 標 準;
Do all in my power to dignify my vocation and to promote the highest ethical standards in my chosen vocation;
4
 以 正 當 的 態 度 對 待 顧 主, 顧 員, 同 事, 同 業, 顧 客, 大 眾, 以 及 所 在 事 業 上 或 專 門 職 務 上 有 來 往 的 人;
Be fair to my employer, employees, associates, competitors, customers, the public and all those with whom I have a business or professional relationship;

 尊 敬 所 有 有 益 於 社 會 之 職 業;
Recognize the honor and respect due to all occupations which are useful to society;

 貢 獻 個 人 的 職 業 專 長: 提 供 青 年 人 機 會, 幫 住 其 他 人 解 決 特 殊 需 求, 增 進 社 會 的 生 活 品 質;
Offer my vocational talents: to provide opportunities for young people, to work for the relief of the special needs of others, and to improve the quality of life in my community;

 在 廣 告 及 對 大 眾 做 有 關 個 人 事 業 或 專 門 職 務 的 介 紹 時, 遵 守 誠 信 原 則;
Adhere to honesty in my advertising and in all representations to the public concerning my business or profession;
8
 不 向 社 友 要 求 一 些 一 般 人 在 事 業 或 專 門 職 業 上 不 能 獲 得 的 特 權 或 利 益, 反 之 亦 不 提 供 給 社 友;
Neither seek from nor grant to a fellow Rotarian a privilege or advantage not normally accorded others in a business or professional relationship.
