ENGAGED as a runner near Courshamps, France. July 18-20, 1918, Private Henry J. Tudury "made repeated trips through intense shelling and machine-gun fire. On July 18 he was gassed, but bravely continued with his heroic work until he fell exhausted on the 20th."
For this extraordinary heroism in action Private Tudury has been awarded the distinguished service cross by Gen. Pershing. He is a member of Company C, Twelfth Machine Gun Battalion, and his father, Peter Tudury, resides at Bay St. Louis, Miss.
