Sometimes I take clients on all-expenses-paid ski weekends. Of course, a liberal would say that's not work. Of course, they've never met the client, who's often a jerk, or his wife, who's always either ugly or frigid.
I've taught week-long seminars with no time off. People talked to me about business during breakfast, dinner, lunch, and over cocktails in the evening. I feel trapped and want to go home.
Liberals think it's not work just because of the "creature comforts" - the rooms, the meals, the way the inferiors (I'm their superior, therefore they're my inferiors, now GET OVER IT!) and the hotel staff treats me. Is it work? Does one plus one equal two? Of course it's work!
But then all the commies get all poetic, and say that work means sweating and making things, serving people and being treated badly, getting minimum wage and mopping up puke.
Bullshit. All of these jobs give the worker a satisfying feeling of A JOB WELL DONE. Sucking cocktails at executive parties doesn't give any of this satisfaction. Trying to get a client drunk enough to sign a contract is boring, tedious, and gives you nothing to look back upon when you retire. Cleaning up puke is something that makes you proud. Trying to bribe a client with vacations doesn't. When a worker sweats and makes something, they can look at their achievement - and then we also pay them! Only because the government forces us too, of course.
