Singapore: capitalist heaven.

I've always wanted to visit Chile, but I went to Singapore instead. I swear, I though I'd died and gone to heaven. For once there's law and order. Unlike America's wimpy police, Singapore police show up at night. And they don't get all petty over reasons either. The Singapore police (they have great uniforms too) looked around where I was staying, and noticed a plant on the balcony that might breed insects. I asked them why American police aren't so observant. The policeman (Yes! For once, a man!) said that they didn't notice it themselves, a neighbor informed them. I was fascinated - Singapore actually has an appreciation for vigilantism!

It's a pity I had to leave so soon, I could have spent all summer reporting on my neighbors. One of them burned something that could have been a flag - it was dirty and ripped up, but I suspect that was just a cover up. You know how flag-burners all say "oh, I was just disposing of it, not protesting!" I think Clinton said that once or twice.

You know, America's really behind in competition with Singapore. I mean, look at us, we've got unions for god's sake! How the hell are we supposed to get workers to work if they can all team up against us? That's democracy, people say. Exactly - that's why we've got to get rid of democracy. We cannot allow a mob of poor people to overpower rich individuals. The rich are the real oppressed minority in America. But not in Singapore.
