Mission:
The Mount Vernon Branch of the AAUW offers its members a varied program of activities including community service, education and fun. The branch provides monthly reading tutors to a local family shelter, has adopted a local in-need elementary school, sponsors an annual “community issues” forum and holds fund raisers for the EF Foundation.  In addition, the group plans outings to cultural events and holds monthly branch meetings.  Our priority is the empowerment of women through equal access to education, health care, affirmative action and workplace equity.  We monitor and lobby at the federal and state levels on legislation that affects women and families.

Membership requirements:

Membership is open to those with a two-year associate’s or higher degree from an accredited institution. Undergraduates enrolled in a regionally accredited
two- or four-year institution may become student affiliates. A membership information request form may be found http://www.aauwva.org/request.htm .
