Fuelie 221 Project

A 221 Max Econo cylinder head from Argentina has finally been aquired thanks to my good friend Martin in Argentina! I have compiled all my info on these heads here on another page.

This head is on the back burner currently. Suspension, brakes, wheels, tires, and paint are a priority. However, in my spare time I'm going to dive into the ME head and start getting it ready for MPI. It looks like I will have the factory intake manifold shipped up as well, install an injector into each runner, and modify a standard throttle body to use on the Solex flange. I hope to run the whole system with an EM3-E6 system from Simple Digital Systems to control fuel delivery and ignition timing per boost level and rpm...yes, I'm thinking about forced induction. I solved the spark delima. It takes a Motorcraft AWSF44C. I hope to have combustion chamber cc numbers soon. Here is a shot of the chamber design.

Once I aquire a die grinder I'll clean the carb on out and do a little porting in the pockets and polish the chambers. Nothin serious. I want to get a good idea of what the head flows in stock form so I'll take it down to my local head builder and have it put on the flowbench. Just to give an idea, the large integral log C9 casting I have for a 250 head flowed 165 cfm after thorough porting. The intake ports on the 221 ME head are unique and have a little "walled" up area behind the valve to induce swirl into the chamber. It will be interesting to see how it influences the flow figures over the log manifold head.
