Guns kill more teenagers than heart disease, cancer and AIDS combined.
 

Homicide is the second leading cause of death for all people 15-24.
 

In 1991 there were 1,441 unintentional shooting fatalities -- 551 of these fatalities were people 19 and under. 


Homicide is the leading cause of death for young black men.
 

In 1990 the homicide rate in the United States was more than 10 times the rate of Germany, Canada, the United Kingdom and Japan combined.

In 1993 there were 18,940 firearm related suicides and 18571 firearm related homicides, a total of 37,511 deaths. 


Between 1985 and 1994 the handgun murder rate increased 65.2 percent. 


Researchers estimate there are between four and 12 non-fatal gun-related injuries for every death. This means there were between 150,000 and 450,132 non-fatal, firearm-related injuries in 1993.
