Racism

A Product of Our Imaginations

I shouldn't even have to tell you this...

Ok, people, time to discuss everyone's favorite topic: Racism. Allow me to start by saying this: Racism is bad. Not because mommy, the government, or society say so, but because it simply is.

Human is human, people are people. You and I are not better than someone else because we are a different color. Sure, we are better than each other, but only in specific areas, and we like to call those "skills" in the civilized world. I may play guitar better than you, but you may be a better carpenter than I am, which is probably true. We all have different skills, but we are all people, and no one is just "better" than anyone else. That is simply the way it is.

If you cut open a christian and a zen buddhist, will you find that they contain different parts? No. Are Hispanics any less likely to fail a test than Caucasians? No. Will a white person do better in any given career than a a black person? No. We all have the same basic abilities, and we all use those abilities about equally.

For those of you who are racist, prepare to be directly offended. Has it ever occured to you that you are following an idea that you have never put any thought into? Or that perhaps you are blindly following a belief that someone gave to you? Or maybe that you are nothing but puppets in a game you cannot understand because you refuse to rub three brain cells together? Well, it's true, all of it. There is no justification for racism, and there never will be. If you are now supremely offended or otherwise pissed off, good. Maybe that anger will make you think and reassess your beliefs. Here's some help.

Racists are people who hate a whole group of people simply because they are that group of people. They are very close-minded, hard to deal with, and all around defensive. This is bacause deep down, they know they are wrong. They only believe the way they do because they resist change, even to better themselves. Instead of hating a whole group of people, try hating only one person at a time, on a meet only basis. If someone wrongs you, by all means, hate them. Do not, however, hate the whole group to which they belong. That is just stupid, because there are good and bad in all groups of people. Think about it, you'll see what I mean.

In closing, I am not saying that racists are all bad people, though the great majority seem to be. They are not evil, they are simply mis-guided and confused. They have been told a thing and chose to beleive it without any thought. If they would think about what they believe, I am confident that they would discover something rather surprising: that they have no justification for thinking about things the way they do. Do not hate them, for that would bring you to their level. Simply feel sorry for them, and hope that someday they realize what I have said here, for the greatest crime one can commit against ones self is to blindly follow a thing one does not understand. And as always, until next time:

Think On!
