The Picture

In the picture, there's jet black hair
Arched eyebrows, painted face and lips
Pearls arond a stately neck
Feathers for a dress
An alluring look
A princess
But when the picture's been taken
The hair is more dark brown
The eyebrows bushy, face plain
Feathers replaced by jeans and a t-shirt
No time for expensive jewelry
In a worker's world
The alluring look replaced with determination
Maybe not a princess
But more importantly
A queen
An overcomer, a warrior
A woman of virtue
Who has shed the trappings of affluence
In order to fight
For what's rightfully hers
A woman who has put aside
The childish dress up games of youth
And come of age

Well, this page is devoted to me. All about me. We could be here all day, but I'll just give you the highlights.

I was born Chantel Monique Robinson on April 25, 1977. If you believe in astrology, that would make me a Taurus. (I don't.) I was born on Langley AFB in Hampton, but right about now, I'm a DC Metro Area native. I claim Southeast as my home when I want to... my grandmother lives there.

Right now, I'm a 23 year old graduate of Florida A&M University, having majored in English. I'm currently a 7th grade teacher at Benjamin Stoddert Middle School. Outside of school, I'm active in my church, Holy House Community Church on the Praise team, in the dance ministry, and it seems almost everything else!!

Basically, I'm just a little girl who likes to have fun. Always smilin', and telling others to smile. Just happy, I guess. I believe in God, and that has to make you happy.
