Special needs technology, as listed below, has not been needed at Murphy Middle School since I began working. I understand that such technology will be provided with instruction when the need arises. The adaptive technologies listed below provide links to sites that offer instruction on their use.

Demonstrate knowledge in using appropriate adaptive technologies such as: text-to-speech, sip and puff, head wand, tactical devices, special keyboards, braille printers, touch screens, closed caption, synthesizers, digitizers, large or modified screens

13.3 List/Use media and technology as available to support learning for children whose primary language is not English.

Murphy Middle School had two Mexican students that could only speak Spanish at the beginning of the 1998-1999 school year. The following bi-lingual software was purchased to help in the student's transformation to an English speaking school.

Demonstrate appropriate knowledge in the use of bi-lingual software, literature, and other appropriate technologies such as:  video conferencing, CD-ROMs, Internet, videodisc, videotapes, software, and electronic translators

13.4 List appropriate local, state, and national services or resources to meet diverse learning needs through technology.
