Theta Class- Spring 1995

Theta Class, was born Monday, December 5, 1994 when Chris Ammeidio, Ryan Fish, Joe Michalo, and Dave Stout got bids. We got our associate ceremony Thursday, December 8, 1994 in the Governance Chambers in the Student Center.
We didn't do much before Christmas break. We got back in mid-January and got our bigs/letters January 24, 1995. Though a small class, we did all of our 18 links real well, including painting the rock and meeting once a week as a class on our own.
Fish, Joe, and I went active (in that order) on Friday, March 23, 1995. Person for person, we were one of the best classes Iota's had. I admit to warm feelings to them, as there are only three Thetas in this big world.
We had to go to three fraternity events before we could be voted on for bids. The first time I saw Fish and Joe I was sort of scared and didn't know what to think. I forget what the second event was but the third was Monday night football where we got our bids.
Next time I saw them was association and I still didn't know what to think. Soon enough we became closer as we had all this (non-hazing) stuff to do.

Ryan Fish, Pin 61.

Fish was the oldest member of Theta at 21. I knew he had gone to a school in Florida and Youngstown State (yikes) for a semester each. He was the president of our class (but I, as programs, had to set everything up. Fish has hotly contested that.) Fish was an excellent student and knew all the bigwigs at IFC. We always got along (outside of Sunday meetings) and before long we were both living in the house.
He was president by this time so I always avioded bothering him in his room. There has to be a time where someone can be left alone.

The maddest I ever got at him was in January 1998. I had just terribly in school the semester before. Just rotten. He, as president, had access to everyone's grades. Though it didn't please him any, he charged everyone with below the all-men's average with "Dishonoring the name and image of the fraternity". I was outraged. I can't remember a time I was more livid.
Though angry, I agreed to go to the Loft and talk it over. Two hours later everyone was happy. The legal aspects of the charge were really here nor there. He wanted to shake up the poor performers; I think it worked. Though I ultimately had to decide to get better grades (which did happen) most of the credit must go to my parents, fraternity brothers, and Lauren Pernetti.

Happy times, not angry, were the rule with Fish and I. The funniest thing I ever heard him say was: "I graduated!?!".
It was commencement day and we were at a party at Wendy Sprenger's house. Had applied for graduation but tried to reverse that as he changed his major. The paperwork went through and unbeknownst to him, he had graduated earlier that day. I had to laugh.

I was also better than him at "Saturday Night Slam Masters" a wrestling game for the Super Nintendo. First I beat him down with Titan. Then Stingray. Of course, nobody could beat me at Mario Kart- Battle Mode.

Joe Michalo, Pin 62.

Joe was my other associate brother. He was from the country: Buckeye Local, Ohio. Or Robeyville or Adena or something. All I know is that it always seemed to be flooded there.
Unfortunately, Joe often had to work at Eastway; but at least we knew where to find him. At association, he was a freshman but at 19, a year older than me. He was in the armed services reserves. He told me stories about his job, driving important stuff around. He said the enemy was interested in blowing up the army's trucks. Every so often he'd have to go to drill and miss fun things like formals.
Joe was good friends with Jerry Lucarelli (salt of the earth). They enjoyed bowling, NASCAR, and other, dare-I-say, "down home" things.
Joe was luckier than Fish or I with littles. I know Rob Glenn was his little and he must of had a grand little.
Last I heard, Joe was within an ace of graduating.
