President Nixon retired to his home in San Clemente, Calif.. He later moved to New Jersey to be near his grandchildren. He gave up his Secret Service protection in the early eighties, saving the taxpayers over 3 Million dollars a year. The former President wrote 10 books dealing mainly with foreign policy and his political career. He was also called on by the Presidents who proceeded him for advice on various issues.
