In 1999, UWIAID - Solutions For Hunger joined the NetAid movement. According to the Secretary General of the UN, Kofi Annan, "The occasion of the third millennium presents a timely opportunity for the only global organization, in terms of its membership as much as of its areas of work, to identify the challenges that it will face in the future and to engage in an imaginative exercise to enhance and strengthen a unique institution".

You are not powerless to act against the most extreme forms of hunger and starvation. We need to face these challenges not only as individual nations or regions, but as a global community. A number of civil society organizations are working to build more effective ways of tackling our common global problems.

UWIAID has provided links on this website to a number of these organizations. We urge you to visit these sites and stay up-to-date on this situation:

The Netaid Movement
World Food Programme
Youth Against Hunger
One World
United Nations Development Programme

As you learn more, you may realize that the entire state of hunger and starvation in the world today is linked to the social problems that exist on the global scale. We have provided these other links for you to learn more about the large-scale problems in the world today:

EarthAction
Global Action to Prevent War
Hague Appeal for Peace
Millennium NGO Forum
The Society for International Development
State of the World Forum
Young Internationalists

We want to hear from you. Send us your feedback.
