There was a need for having an engineer who could do any type of job irrespective of its problem i.e. Problems related to Electronics , Mechanical etc. To solve this problem companies were needing engineers, who can deal with this type of problems. As also there was revolution in the industries in the field of automation this lead to the foundation of the Instrumentation and Control Engineering branch.

Basically any Engineering course is of FOUR years. And each year is subdivided into TWO semesters . The exams are held in the month of October and May . V.I.T. Instrumentation and Control Engineering Department is affiliated with PUNE University.The admission procedures takes place via Centralized procedures of Maharashtra Government. The branch is a combination of various Engineering disciplines, like computer, electronic, mechanical, chemical etc.

It gives a wide variety of subjects to study. Because of this it is one of the most important and interesting branch. This is the branch which gives satisfaction to the person who always want some variety.

The instrumentation engineer has a job opportunity in all the types of industries like cement, chemical, petroleum, computer, electronic, mechanical based companies. In every company where automation process is required, instrumentation finds its application. Instrumentation engineers are mainly involved in manufacturing process of the control panel which are required for the industries undergoing automation for their process.

Prof.M.D.Gangal is a famous hard core Engineer , working as Head of the Department. He is putting his best effort for producing the good quality Instrumentation and Control engineer. In Instrumentation dept. There are total 9 regular teaching staff members and 5 visiting staff. All the staff is highly experienced. Many of them have industrial experience in many fields.
