Track and Field



Our young track star took a tumble from her bicycle during the last week of finals in May, 1998. After surgery and having pins inserted in her elbow, she spent the summer in physical therapy to get ready to participate on the Women's Track Team and represent CSU in 1999.

Since it was her "throwing" arm that was injured, Julie decided to finally trade in the bike for something a little sturdier --
her first new car!

Another Set-Back


Just before the Fall term of 2000 started, Julie was diagnosed with cancer of the thyroid! She underwent surgery to have her thyroid and some lymph glands removed and made it back to school shortly after the semester started.

After a radiation treatment around Thanksgiving, no cancer showed but she will continue to be monitored periodically.

Thanks to being a healthy athlete, she recovered fairly rapidly and is continuing her studies and participating in track!
