Eureka, IL - - The Illinois College Republican Federation, at its annual convention held in Champaign-Urbana, IL, on February 11 and 12, selected the Eureka College Republicans as its 1999-2000 club of the year.
Club Chairman Josh Carter was presented with a plaque at ceremonies held last Friday evening at the Champaign-Urbana Radisson Hotel. In accepting the award, Carter thanked the Federation and added "I know we'll take a lot of pride in bringing this award back to the alma mater of Ronald Reagan."
The executive committee of the ICRF was responsible for distributing this award, as well as honoring the most improved club, outstanding club chairman, and outstanding College Republican of the year.
In addition to Carter, other representatives from Eureka College included Elizabeth Abbott, Lindsey Griffith, Ron Poliquin, Skip Salvesen, Rachel Sykes, Dan Struck and Anthony West. Carter highlighted the contributions of individual members as instrumental for the club and cited them as the reason for the award. "Ron Poliquin [former chairman] laid a great foundation over the last couple of years. We have a fantastic group of people willing to anything for the club, even on the spur of the moment. All of this has been tremendously important for our club," Carter said.
