Do I smell urine and moonshine?  That's right, it's...

Yessir, spring of 2000 was the second time I had the pleasure of visiting Josh's hometown of Pikeville, KY for its annual Hillbilly Days festival.  That year, Josh and I brought our girlfriends to join in the rowdy redneck fun.  Needless to say, we had a great time.  Here are some pictures from our weekend in Kentucky.

Josh and Melissa in front of all the food and stuff.  Note the crippled children.

The highlight of Hillbilly Days is the Hillbilly Days Parade.  People come from all over Appalachia in old jalopies adorned with all kinds of crazy stuff—rocking chairs, hay, old rusty pots and pans, bumper stickers, animal skins, moonshine barrels... you get the picture.

I just thought this was funny cuz it's so politically incorrect.  Where I come from, they're called physically challenged.

This is a nice picture of Josh's family: From left, his grandparents, the Nortons; his parents, Teresa and Craig; and his adorable lil' siblings Breanna and Tyson.  Staying with the Mauks is always hilarious... especially at the dinner table!

After the parade we went up to the Overlook, which—you guessed it—overlooks the town.

"Just smile and pretend my armpit doesn't stink."

This is one of the very few pictures of me and Josh in which we're not doing something horribly filthy. :)

We then came back to the Mauks' backyard for an exhausting 3-minute photo session.

All in all, we had a fantastic time in Pikeville, and hopefully the Mauks will let us back next year!
