Next we went to Universal Studios, in Hollywood. I didn't know this, but it's the biggest movie studio lot in the world. And it looked like it. There were a bunch of sound stages and famous sets everywhere, along with all the rides and other tourist stuff. This is the house from "Psycho," which is, as we were told by the tour guide, the "most recognized house in the world." Or it might've been "the most recognized movie scene in the world" or something like that, I forget.
There's a great view of the valley from Universal cuz it's on the side of a mountain. You could see Warner Brothers Studios nearby, as pictured above (the water tower is the lil' white spot in front of that office building.)
It was a rather dreary day when we went to Venice Beach, so there weren't many people out on the sand. Plus, the water's really cold cuz there's no Gulf Stream. This is the view from the Santa Monica Pier. Malibu is on those mountains in the distance.
We spent a lot of time in Hollywood and Sunset Strip, and in Beverly Hills. This is the Hard Rock Cafe in the Beverly Center. Mike's the guy sitting in front of the window.
Later that day we went to see a play in downtown LA called "Enigma Variations," starring Donald Sutherland. I was never a big fan of his, but he did a really good job. This is a picture of the buildings downtown, that I took from the car.
