Commentary on some movies
I really like movies. All sorts of movies. Every kind of movie. I love them. I even like bad movies because they're funny. Because I've seen so many movies, I can not possibly list them all here. Because of that, I will probably update this page frequently.
I'll talk about some comedies I really like:
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles: In my opinion,
this is the greatest comedy ever made. The scene with the guy from Kansas
and his wife if hilarious, as is the rental car scene. It's a really funny
movie with a lot of heart. I would definitely recommend renting it for
Thanksgiving.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail: Also hilarious. This is a witty, laugh-a-minute comedy done Monty Python style. From the most one-sided dual in history to "I fart in your general direction," the movie is relentless, holding nothing sacred. If you do watch this, don't watch it with someone who can quote the entire movie, as that ruins it.
Ferris Bueler's Day Off: I know you've seen it, so I don't have to explain myself. It (along with The Princess Bride) is one of those movies we can all love. In fact, I think that Ferris Bueler's Day Off is one of the keys to world peace. Interesting side note: I've been to the school where they filmed the school scenes. It was cool, Glenbrook South in Glenbrook, IL (a suburb of Chicago).
Clerks: This is a great movie in a style I really liked. Practically the whole movie consisted of dialogue. Nothing much really happened, and everything was random. It was very much like real life, in some ways. Overall, the movie was very witty, but bluntly funny at some parts. I will warn you, the movie is really bluntly sexual, so if you can't deal with that, then you should probably pass.
The Big Lebowski: This movie sums up my relationship with Matt (McDougall) perfectly. It's really random, and really, really funny. If you liked Fargo, then you will love The Big Lebowski. You just have to see it.
That's all I can think of now. Check back some other time. I'll put up more movies and mini-reviews/summaries. If you like, I can even write full reviews, if you want to read them. I may try to do these types of reviews for current movies, but I don't get out very often (lack of car).
