Shinyu.
This is dedicated to my shinyu. That’s what she called me on her web page and since I feel the same about her, I thought I’d return the favor. I remember walking up to her (I think she was reading a book) and asking her if she wanted to buy a chocolate candy bar. She asked “do you have one with almonds?” I said yes and that’s pretty much how our friendship was launched. Since then we changed high schools, ran track together, graduated from high school, went to college, came back and we’re still friends. I’m just glad we’re in the same city again cuz when we were on different sides of the country those 3-4 hour phone calls were killers on our phone bills. Now we can talk as much as we want and it’s free cuz it’s local. Anyways I think she’s da bomb cuz she’s always there for me and we can do crazy fly stuff together, like riding the bus across the city to find new libraries or watching the American release of Princess Monoke. I can’t wait to see what crazy stuff we do this year now that we’re older, wilder and have a lot more freedom.

2 cool conversations, same day.
I was sitting at the bus stop eating my peanut butter jelly sandwich. A girl walked up to me and asked me if I knew what time the next bus was coming. I said no, but I do have a bus schedule. So I reach into my bag and fish around for the bus schedule. I check it out and provide her with the necessary info. But she really wants to see it for herself. Since she seems to be in a rush I ask her why she has to get back in such a hurry and she replies that she has to meet her boyfriend. “Why do you have to meet your boyfriend?” I ask. And she says there just some things you have to do. We continue to talk and I learn that she has a two year old daughter and is 21 years old. Then I ask, “is your current boyfriend your daughter’s dad?” She says no. It turns out she can’t marry her daughter’s dad even though they were in a relationship for 4.5 years because he already had a wife. Just as we started talking about God, the bus came and it killed our conversation, cuz we had to go separate ways.

Then on my way home from Santa Monica College, I pulled out my bible to do a little reading. The guy sitting behind me asks are you a Jehovah Witness? I respond No, I’m a non-denominational Christian.. And he replies me too. My natural response, “what makes you a Christian?”. And he replies well my whole family is Christian and I have been going to church all my life. I go that doesn’t make you Christian. So we get into a really long discussion about Christianity. I think he is a Christian because he believes Jesus is the son of God but he had so many questions and feels like there are just so many religions out there that make sense so what’s he supposed to do with their claims. And as usual when we were getting to the good part of the conversation my bus stop came and I had to run off the bus.

It kind of tripped me out cuz on my morning bus ride this lady at the front of the bus was talking about the Holy Spirit being her reminder. So at the end of the day I’m just like God you are so awesome cuz even though I have to spend 4.5 hrs on the bus and ride 6 different buses you show me that you’re everywhere.
