I went to this talk on Thursday and I think it was called "Why Study Engineering" or something like that. Well i was very irritated because he was a Cal State LA evangelist and that's not what i went to hear about.

But one of the things he discussed was the term success. He asked for some feedback on the definition of success. One person said- the achievement of one's goals. Another said, being happy with your life. The speaker replied "happiness and success are two different things". Most successful people are not happy and most happy people are not not successful. I was whoa, hoa, hoa hold the heck up buddy. I know everyone has different definitions of the word but what if your goal in life is to be happy? Then aren't you successful when you acheive that by being happy? I don't know. maybe i should look the word up in the dictionary. But it just kind of annoyed me.

The other thing i didn't like was when he started talking about how engineering is prestigious and stuff. He asked us, "who do you thinks make more an engineer or doctor?" Everybody replied doctor. And he says well starting engineers can make 60k and up and doctors make approx. 100k. But presidents of engineering companies make between $2-5 million. But he didn't bother telling us how much higher level doctors make.

I was reading on someone's web page that "Did you feel the mountains tremble" is the song right now. That just made me start wondering about what makes some songs become popular. For instance that song came out in 1994 and i guess it started getting popular this year. Whereas, "Come Now is the Time to Worship", came out in 1998 and it's pretty popular. So why'd it take "Did You" like 3-4 years and "Come Now" less than a year? Does it have to with how well your album is distributed or how well known you are when you write the songs?

I went to First Chinese Baptist Church(youth service) on Sunday and I liked it alot. The different grades were presenting skits/testimonies. The one i enjoyed the most was the 8th grade girls presentation of "The Prodigal Daughter- Human Slide Show". Basically one person narrated the story and people would pose. Then the lights would go off and then they would assume a new pose. The story was also kinda funny cuz it had a modern setting. I thought it was extremely creative.
