Need a Job?

This is a listing of Internet locations to post a resume and search for jobs. We present this as a courtesy to the Undergraduate Brothers, in an effort to assist them in transitioning from college life to career life. Good luck brothers! Feel free to refer this page to family and friends.

Notes:

Prior to posting a resume, remove all contact information except for an e-mail address and a phone number. Recruiters will generally contact you by e-mail or telephone. Leave no mailing addresses, Social Security Numbers, other contact numbers, etc.

The object here is to get your resume on as many hiring managers' desks as possible, the more exposure the greater the chance of landing a job. Apply for any and every job that even remotely relates to your field of study or interests. In some cases there will be an on-line resume form you have to fill out and others just cut and paste the resume in a specified area, some will let you do both.

The "one-page" rule for a resume does not apply for resumes on-line! The databases simply store your resume as text and when a recuriter or hiring manager is looking for a candidate they enter a query for specific skills. The database just searches the resumes for the presence of these key works (skills), hince, the more key words or skill names you have on your resume, the greater chance your resume has of being selected. Your hard-copy resume will not look exactally like your on-line resume, nor will it be as long!

Resumes should be in ASCII text format, 70 characters per line. To get an idea of what the resume will look like, copy and paste it in MS Note Pad or into an e-mail. Many features will be lost. All Bold will be lost, special fonts, font sizes, columns, centering, etc. This will be pure raw text. Once in the e-mail or MS Note Pad, make adjustments as best as you can, then copy that text onto a new document in MS Word or WP. Once in MS Word or WP the document may look incorrect (geographically) but it will be fine to the receivers of the resume.
