Research Area:

Application of Solid State Nuclear Magnetic Resonance:
Current research work focuses on the application of solid state NMR techniques for the high resolution solid-state NMR spectroscopy in complex materials. Here we are using the different nuclie for our characterization. some of them are 23Na, 27Al, 29Si, 7Li, 133Cs etc..

Solid State Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (SSNMR) Studies:
The research work at NYU focuses on the development and application of innovative techniques for the high resolution solid-state NMR spectroscopy in quadrupolar nuclei. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance methods are being applied for structure elucidation of materials and molecules. CPMAS, MQMAS, REDOR etc techniques are used for the characterization. The aim of developing these novel techniques is to allow one to remove residual broadening mechanisms and make very high resolution correlation spectroscopy feasible in protein and DNA ion associates, nanomaterials, and disordered solids.

NMR Studies of copolymers :

Copolymers of N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone with acrylonitrile, glycidyl methacrylates, methyl methacrylate, alkyl acrylate (methyl and butyl) and vinyl acetate monomers in different composition were prepared by different methods. Sequenceing of these copolymer systems were determined in terms of Compositional and configurational sequences. Reactivity ratio, triad concentration and composition were calculated from NMR spectra. Sequence was also calculated using statistical models, which gave excellent agreement with the values obtained from NMR spectra.

Copolymers of poly(vinyl alcohal) and poly(methyl acrylate) are being prepared by different methods and conformation is being calculated from 2D NMR.
