Share our experiences in working with Latinos and
other underserved populations.
Learn more about Latinos by volunteering in the
Latino community and bringing speakers to Jefferson to talk
about Latino health care issues.
Participate in the Latino culture.
Practice medical spanish.
Establish a viable network for students, physicians
and faculty interested in addressing the health care needs of
Latinos in the United States. JLHO will also help prepare
students for residencies and work in predominantly Latino
areas such as major cities in California, Texas, Florida,
New York, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico,
Illinois, etc.
In the future, provide higher quality health care
to Latinos through an increased understanding of the patient
and enhanced communication skills. JLHO members would like to
prepare now for providing adequate health care to the future's largest ethnic population in the U.S. (estimated to be 25% of
U.S. population by 2050).
