Records Management Analyst.  Research and write administrative overviews and program descriptions of state and local government agencies for use during records inventory, project scheduling, and for use by Archivists and the public as finding aids.  Coordinate the process with work units involved in projects. Prepare retention schedules by interviewing agency staff and inventorying agency records.  Verify that all legal, administrative, fiscal and historical requirements are complete, accurate and comply with Archives guidelines.  Train agency staff to implement the record retention schedule. Conduct presentations and workshops about records management best practices. Contribute to writing an E-Mail Management Manual, web-based training component, and instructional video.  Assist with development and implementation of state-wide Classification Scheme. Advise agencies about systems for: managing and maintaining agency records in any format.  Recommend incorporating new records management developments into policies and procedures and suggest related organizational changes to state and local government agencies.

Maryland State Archives

Annapolis, MD

Director of the Maryland Register of Wills Project, an online imaging system of 25,000 images. At outset of the project, the Archives had little contact with the 24 Registers of Wills offices.  Won and completed digital imaging contracts with five counties. Achieved representation for the Archives on the Registers’ Technical Committee.  Responsible for supervision of two employees; submission of the project budget; hardware and software review and evaluation; responding to inquiries from the public; and research with historical primary sources.

Electronic Records Appraisal Archivist.  Responsible for: appraisal of electronic government records through the retention schedule process; serving as the Archives’ liaison with government administrative and records professionals; writing proposals and negotiating terms with clients; working with clients to transfer electronic data; developing and performing quality assurance routines against the data acquired.  Assisted with the Archives’ transition from microfilm production to digital imaging, including purchase of equipment, training of staff, and implementation of image quality control standards.  Appraised the email system of the Office of the Governor of Maryland and wrote functional requirements and recommendations for its long-term preservation.
