The CRL Choir is a dynamic group of students, professors, businessmen, professionals, artists, and some retirees. The Choir has been singing for the Lord since 1949 when it was founded by the late Flora Zarco-Rivera who referred to it as the first organized choral group in UP. It actively participates both in the congregational programs and activities and in the outreach ministry of CRL. The Choir prepares for five concerts annually: the Love Concert in February, the Lenten Cantata, the Anniversary Concert in November, the UP Christmas Gala, and the Carols by Candlelight. In addition, it goes out every third Sunday of the month to share its music with other churches in Metro Manila and in the provinces. Another significant program of the Choir is the scholarship granted to deserving students in the College of Music. Presently, two scholars are enjoying full scholarship covering tuition fees and monthly stipend. Other on-going programs of the Choir includes: a 15-session Skills Enrichment Workshop, the Meditation after Saturday rehearsals, and the annual retreat. Incidentally, it sponsored in November this year the first Flora Zarco-Rivera Memorial Choral Festival. (jaguar) |
