Sarah's Astronomical Dorm Room

ooooo the pretty lights

Aha... Glad to see you decided to stay!

So since you are in my dorm room, I guess I should tell you more about me!

My name is Sarah Stott.  I am a 20 year old student at Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas.  I come from a normal family: 2 adults, 2.5 children (the 1/2 kid is the dog).   I have many friends that I never see anymore ... ok ok.. so a few of them are still here, married with children... the rest come back on holidays from their universities.   Besides my in real life friends, I have lots of great online friends.  And of course, how could I mention online friends without thinking of my beloved friends in BPE!!   NOY to you all!! :-)

My major is Planetary Geology, with minors in Astronomy and Music.  I have many activities I am involved in, and I recently went on a Petrology Class Field Trip to Llano, Texas.  It was my first geology trip, lots of fun, and I'm looking forward to more next year. My music interests are many: I play the piano and the flute, as well as some other instruments, and I like to sing.  I hope to get more involved in my university's music program next year.   But my main interest is space.  I'm fascinated by the other planets in our solar system.  So little is known I think it must be the greatest field with the most opportunities for research.  I hope to concentrate my studies on our Moon, and also on Mars.  These two places are the future.  None of the other planets hold the potential to be inhabited by humans,  so the future of manned space and planetary exploration is on the surfaces of the Moon and Mars.  And maybe, if my big dream comes true, I will be one of the people to live and work on the Moon or Mars. :-)

Besides music and geology, I like to travel.  I've had many memorable vacations around our wonderful country, the United Sates of America.  I've traveled to 12 states now: Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Arkansas, Missouri, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee. To my wonderful, disillusioned European friends, this is tantamount to touring all of Europe! Now about Europe,  that's a place I have never seen, but hope to see soon!  :-)  I like to go camping sometimes, if it's not too hot. I also like to ride horses.  This is one thing that I don't get the opportunity to do very much, but I never say no to a ride when it is offered!  I also love to go out on the Ropes Course.  ok... so you've never heard of it.  Most people haven't.  Basically, I put on a harness and a helmet and climb trees and walk on wires, logs, water hoses, etc... 30-50 ft. above the ground... leaving my life in the hands of a rope, with me at one end, and someone else on the ground at the other.  Exciting eh??  nah... I'm not crazy... it's fun!!   Two of my favorite upper elements are the Pamper Pole (climb up a 40 ft. telephone pole, stand on the top, and jump off, trying to catch a trapeze hanging 15 ft. away) and the Zip Line (the last one of these I did, I climbed 50 ft. up a tree to a small platform, jumped off,  and rode the wire upside down all the way to the bottom heheheee).

Well I hope you have enjoyed your stay in my dorm room!   *Ding!* Ahhhh the noodles are ready.  mmmm mmmm doesn't that smell... hmmm.. kind of burned actually.  Uh oh  *lifting the lid*   errmmmm.... eewwwww. *throwing entire pot in the refuse receptacle*  Guess we won't be having dinner together.  But may I recommend a place to you?    It's called Dave's Astronomical Coffee Shop... you'll love it!!
