Worcester State Crew Club Charter Proposed January 27,2000

Article I Name
The Name of the club shall be Worcester State Crew.
Article II Purpose

The purpose of Worcester State Crew is to promote good sportsmanship. The sport offers the students of Worcester State College the opportunity to involve themselves in an activity of competitive rowing. Worcester State Crew will also encourage athletic development in the best interest of Worcester State College.

Article III Membership

1. Membership is open to all WSC fee-paying students.

2. Members must attend all scheduled practices.

3. Members must attend all scheduled meetings.

4. Members must participate in all fundraisers, team projects, and functions.

5. All members will be given a fair chance to fill any available seat in any boat.

6. If members are not able to row due to circumstances beyond their control, such as shortage of seats in a boat, or injury, they are expected to attend all home races, and as many away races as possible, and to help out in any way that they can. Members are also expected to attend all meetings as well.

7. Any unexcused violation of any rules set forth in this charter may be justification for termination of membership in adherence to the guidelines for removal and impeachment in the SGA constitution.

8. After two complete semesters of membership may be allowed to order a spray immediately after the second semester, proving that he or she is still an active member of the club, meaning that member attends all practices, meetings, fundraisers, etc.

Article IV Executive Board and Their Duties

A. President

 Shall call all meetings and practices

 Shall coordinate all activities

 Shall be the liaison, or designate one, to the Program Council and/or Senate if necessary.

B. Vice-President

 Shall assist the President in his or her duties.

 Shall act as President in the absence of the President, temporarily.

C. Treasurer

 Shall keep an accurate report of all financial records of the club.

 Shall make a report on a monthly basis to the advisors.

D. Secretary

 Shall keep an accurate record of all minutes and membership.

 Shall submit news items concerning Worcester State Crew to press and others interested in correspondence.

 Shall be responsible for ordering all sprays,clothing and uniforms.

Article V

Advisors, Coach, Captains, and their Duties

A. Advisor

 The advisor of Worcester State Crew shall be a member of the faculty, staff or administration.

 He or she shall be voted on by the members of Worcester State Crew at the 1st meeting of the year.

 The advisor shall help maintain the organizational functions of Worcester State Crew.

B. Coach
 May or may not be a current employee or Worcester State College.

 Will be the athletic decision-maker of the club.

 Shall adhere to all rules governing Worcester State College Athletics.

C. Captains

 There may be a varsity men’s and women’s captain.

 The captains will be voted in by Worcester State Crew members.

 Shall assist the coach at his or her discretion and assume his or her duties in the coach’s absence.

Article VI

Elections

A. Nominations and elections for the executive board will be held on the same day in the spring. Elected positions will be held from the commencement to commencement of each year.

B. If an officer resigns, leaves Worcester State Crew, or is impeached, a special election will be held. The new officer will serve the remainder of the term.

C. In case an officer has to be impeached, the guidelines of the S.G.A. Constitution will be adhered to. (Article XIII)

Article VII

Amendments

This charter may be amended with the majority vote of the club member. All Amendments will adhere to article XII of the S.G.A. constitution and will be given to the Senate Parliamentarian to bring to vote within the Student Senate.

Article VIII

Ratification

This charter will become effective upon the club’s approval and upon approval of Student Senate.
