Interests

I'm a really sporty kind of guy and enjoy most outdoor activities (anything that involves wearing shorts!). Here are some of the things I get up to:

  • Track Running (competed in 1997 School Championships and came 2nd overall). Run 100 (11sec) & 200m distances. School record holder.

  • Swimming - Never a member of a team, but I really enjoy diving into the cool water and spending a few hours in the local swimming pool. A sport I've been active with for longer than any of the others.

  • Queen's Youth Club I took part in the first leg a voyage in the winter of 1995. We sailed from Liverpool to the Canary Islands on a 72-foot yacht in some of the worst weather in living memory. This voyage was a great experience and adventure, and also a great chance to make some really good friends. The voyage helped to develop my team working skills as there were 14 people on the yacht and we all had to work together to sail and navigate the yacht.

  • Boxing - Amateur boxing is good fun, but I'm not really into it in a big way. I've only ever scraped into the lightweight league anyway. It's good for stress relief and co-ordination. It also gives me a chance to do some major league posing in the ring!

  • Student Radio - At University I have been a presenter on the student radio station for two years. This is the largest and most established student radio station in the country. I presented several shows during my presenting career, including the breakfast and lunch time shows. I enjoy being involved with the radio station immensely, both the technical and social aspects, and it has helped to increase my confidence and interpersonal skills greatly.

  • Socialising - I enjoy going out with my friends. Night clubs and pubs are my favourite venues. Being a student gives me more extra time on my hand than someone who might work from 9-5. My drinking tastes are predictable, larger (and lots of it!). I do like spirits though, particulary vodka and whiskey. If you see me around - by me an After Shock - I love 'em!
