It really is possible to get out of the world of retail. After nearly eight years working for Wegmans Food Markets, I spent two more years managing at Forest City Auto Parts. I finally got the nerve to quit and start completely anew in construction where I became a carpenter, doing rough framing of new houses and additions. One year of that was enough. It's not very nice on your body, I hate the early morning and there was no way I was going to spend another Rochester winter outdoors. I then spent a year at Verizon Wireless in the Rochester Direct Sales Channel. I'm currently seeking an employer with a dynamic workplace; please see my Resume.
Now I'm attending SUNY Brockport full-time and am majoring in History (and English minor)and will probably pursue a Masters degree in order to teach at the collegiate level or may go on to law school. In the meantime, though, I still have to bring in some money. I was once told that one of the easiest ways to make good money is in the sale of legal drugs. About ten years ago, I was lucky enough to enter one of the most fascinating and fun fields of work: Vending. You know, like the Coors Light commercials: I'm the "Beer Guy" you see walking around the stadium, trying to get you to buy one of my nice, cold, refreshing beers.
I also vend for SportsService at Ralph Wilson Stadium, home of the the Buffalo Bills, and also worked the inaugural season at Browns Stadium, the beautiful new home of the re-established Cleveland Browns. Working at NFL events is definitely one of the most exciting atmospheres on the planet.
As a result of my association with SportsService in Cleveland this past NFL season, I've been invited back to work at Jacobs Field for the Cleveland Indians during select homestands this summer, and was able to work the final Opening Day of Tiger Stadium in Detroit, Michigan.
I have also been lucky enough to have worked a few times as a guest vendor at Dunn Tire Park (formerly known as NorthAmericare Park and Pilot Field) in Buffalo for Buffalo Bisons games and also JumboTron screenings of the ill fated 1999 Stanley Cup Finals.
