The Working Experience

The location was Electric Umbrella. The park was Epcot. The work was tough. The people were great. The over all experience was wonderful. The first time that I found out that I was going to be working fast food I was excited. When I found out I was going to be at Epcot I was even more excited. My first day of work was when reality struck and it struck hard. I was basically tossed into the water and told to sink or swim. The first day of work was a trying time for me. Someone had called in sick so there were two experienced people and me. They explained to me what to do really fast and then told me to do it. For example they showed me really quick how to set up one of our topping bars and then had me set up the second one. It was like this all day. When we opened we were still short so they showed me how to make french fries and I did that for a few hours until some more people could show up, and when they did I finally got to take a breather and get to know more of the staff. My trainer on the first day was Sharon and she has taken me under her wing as her trainee and made sure I always knew what to do. Since my second day on I had a lot of fun. I have many memories and injuries to help me remember my time at the Electric Umbrella. I have my certificate of appreciation to remember my fun time and one of my accidents at the first annual E.U. cleaning party. The accident that happened then was that I was washing the walls and bumped a sink and the piping underneath broke and started spewing hot water. So my friend Gabe and I had to spend three hours mopping up and keeping the water in check until the plumbers could come and clean it up. That was my second accident my first accident was I lit a fryer on fire. And my third accident was that I caused a lot of ice to fall out of our ice machine on to the floor while I was working counter one day. The fourth and final accident that I caused only effected me. I was walking out of the E.U. dishroom when I slipped on the wet floor. I hit my head on the floor and got a cut just above my eye. I had to go to the Hospital and have stitches. What was so memorable about this accident was that these were the first stitches I ever needed to get. So now I will always remember my Disney stitches. I liked most of the people I worked with and I hope they liked me, but I know that they were happy when I left because their insurance rates went down.
