About Pei Dao NPCC Unit

Pei Dao NPCC Unit comprises of one officer, three C.Is and a total number of 45 cadets. Our current O.C is Ma'am Koh. By Jan 1999, the unit will have another new lady officer, Ms Xew joining us. She will be in charge of outdoor activities such as visits to places like dog unit, traffic police etc.

Despite having a small unit, cadets are taught with good discipline, Our newly joined cadets shows much enthusiasm towards training. They shows their devotion as well as commitment by attending every parade.

Their drills are witnessed by the school when they formed the Guard-Of-Honour (G.O.H) and the supporting contingent in the school annual Speech Day Parade.

Unit Weekly Activities

Our Unit parade usually starts at 0730. We usually started off with Physical Training (P.T). Activities such as FootDrill, Baton Drill and Arms Drill are conducted by the Cadet Inspectors (C.I). The C.Is are also responsible for conducting campcraft sessions and some of the lectures. Games and sing-a-long sessions are held to foster camaraderie.

 

Visits

Besides activities carried out in school, we have attachments to various police departments such as the Police Dog Unit (P.D.U), Traffic Police Division, Police Coast Guard (P.C.G), Criminal Investigation Department (C.I.D) and Crime Prevention Exhibition Room. The cadets have benefitted greatly from all these visits.

 

Services

Cadets are required to perform crowd control during School Sports Day, and an occasional invitation from primary schools. Marshal Duty are performed for the traffic games by the lower secondary cadets.

Being in NPCC Area 6, we have also participated in many area activities and area courses such as the Area 6 Activity Day and the Area 6 NCO Basic Training Course.

Camps / Hikes

To enhance their further knowledge, camps were organised. Camps like the Adventure Training Camps (A.T.C) in Pulau Ubin, the School Annual Camps are organised to give cadets the extra outdoor training needed. Impressive cadet will be nominated for the National Camp organised by the NPCC Headquarter.

Adventure Training Camp (A.T.C) :- Cadets get to learn more about outdoor training in this camp from activities such as Canoeing, Pioneering, Obstacles, Survival Cooking and Land Expedition. The objectives of the camp is to foster better relationships between cadets from different schools and also to enhance their leadership qualities.

 

Promotion / Courses & Badges

Promotion tests will be held twice annually, once in April and once in July. Cadets and N.C.Os must fulfill at least 75% attendance for the whole year parades. Main emphasis of the test is on commands and leadership. Cadets who has shown excellent leadership qualities will be given a chance to receive another promotion.

The Unit will nominate cadets / N.C.Os for courses like Police Knowledge, S.A.N.A, Civil Defence. The Best Unit Cadet will be recognised through the recommendation from either the C.Is or the officers.

The continuous progression of the unit has proven Pei Dao NPCC to be a better unit in future.
