Welcome to my site. The running courses listed in the following pages once existed in and around the Golden Triangle in Southeast Texas. Some are still used but most are only memories. The courses are there but the mile marks that were once painted on the road have long since faded.

The maps will allow you, the runner, jogger, or walker to revisit sites where running had a small impact on our area during an era when running was at its peak. The golden age for this region of Southeast Texas was in the seventies and eighties.

In 1988 there were twenty-five local races at year listed in the Sea Rim Strider newsletter. Racing enthusiasm with potential sponsors and runners began to decline in the early nineties and by the end of the decade local running events could be counted on both hands.

All the courses contained herein were measured by me using the standards established by The Athletic Congress, so that they would be accurate for the various organizations and race directors that wanted a valid course for runners and walkers.

I began measuring these courses in 1987 shortly after I became club president for the Sea Rim Striders Running Club, a post I held until 1999. I hope you enjoy your brief stay as you travel down memory lane.
